Boarding in 5 minutes...

July 11, 2011
I'll be back on the ship by the end of the afternoon. Crazy. Here's my latest newsletter. I won't be able to update my website or send out another newsletter until I get back in September, but I'm hoping to at least put some updates on Facebook. Your best bet is to check my facebook, the I Want To Live page on facebook, or the ship's new website. Or email me!

Never Random.

July 4, 2011
The Purser of a Medical Ship. Random, right? It's true that if you had asked me five years ago what I'd be doing now, living on a ship in PNG probably wouldn't have been anywhere near the top of my list of possibilities. Completely random though? Surprisingly not.

Looking back, it's almost amusing to see how different things have culminated into what I'm doing now. The last couple years especially. Like...
  • Minor outreach in Papua New Guinea during my DTS. Fell in love with the country and peopl...

Off to PNG

March 31, 2011
Flying out of Townsville in less than two hours. Stocked up on last minute necessities this morning... coffee, doxy (anti malarial meds), and one more pair of pants that won't show my knees. Not sure how long I'll be gone, or when I will have internet access again. Love you all!

If you had no idea I was even going to PNG... you might want to check out my latest newsletter

Rest in the midst of insanity

March 10, 2011
I was just reading Psalm 127, and the first couple verses went right along with some stuff that God's been saying to me the last couple of weeks. The truth of it seems so ridiculously basic, but actually living it is so much easier said than done, for me at least. Here's what it says...

Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread ...

Yasi... come and gone.

February 6, 2011
Earthquakes, I'm used to. But I can't say that surviving a category 5 cyclone (or hurricane... same thing) was ever something that I thought would be on my list of life accomplishments. Only four days after bunkering down in preparation for the "monster" cyclone headed our way, the base has almost completely returned to normal.

During the cyclone, God's hand of protection was very evident. Everyone on base escaped unscathed, and the only damage was some fallen trees and a bit of water leakag...

Was that really only one year?

January 2, 2011
If you had told me years ago that I would both begin and end 2010 living in Australia, I'm not sure I would have believed it. So much has happened this last year! As I look back, I'm in awe of how blessed I am. Seriously though.

Some of the rad things I got to do and be a part of this last year:
  • Roadtripped down the East Coast of Australia
  • Celebrated YWAM's 50th Anniversary at a week-long Jubilee in Canberra
  • Spent 6 weeks on outreach in Newcastle
  • Graduated from DTS
  • Spent 3 weeks living on the Paci...
